I have been monitoring our usage in a staging environment for the past month to get a gauge into the cost for utilizing the AWS Kinesis approach. I am curious what the average monthly bill is for sites utilizing AWS Kinesis to run Snowplow on their site.
I am trying to make sure that I don’t have something misconfigured that is causing what appears to be abnormal usage on AWS.
Our setup consists of a local server with Snowplow Collector.config configured to point to our AWS Kinesis stream and then use Firehoses to get them into S3. On the webserver, we are hosting our own instance of snowplow.js. The cost of AWS for what I think would be a simple set up appears to be quite high, especially since /tp2 is only firing manually when I navigate to http://###.###.###.###:9092/com.SLUG/tp2.
