Hi I notice that ever since we implemnted SP on our site we have been having issue with header size increasing on our pages. When i looked at the cookies i noticed a considerable size difference between our other tools:
Are you worried about how many cookies are being sent with a Snowplow request or how many cookies Snowplow is setting (site-wide).
In this case Snowplow is only setting two cookies (those prefixed with _sp) which accounts for 120 bytes or 5% of the total request cookies size. There are a lot of other cookies being set on the page (Adobe Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, Optimizely, Tealium and Hubspot) that are contributing to that overall size.
The nature of HTTP means that the entire cookie will be sent so assets served from the same domain (e.g., the homepage) will also have the contents of the cookie sent in the headers.
Hi Wayne, I think there’s a bit of confusion around what you’re seeing in your dev tools cookie listing.
That list of cookies appears to be all cookies set for *.massmutual.com , not just those set by Snowplow.
For a quick confirmation of this, try another resource unrelated to Snowplow such as https://www.massmutual.com/global-styles/lib/bootstrap.css . You’ll notice the same cookies listed.
Ahh got it, so those additional cookies have nothing to do with SP. Those are 3rd party tag cookies on mm.com. Just was curius why they would show on a SP call.
Thanks for clairification,
